To all our Students and Agents – Learning English in Scotland Goes Online!

Due to the ever-changing, unprecedented situation we face with Covid-19, I want to update you on the operation of Glasgow School of English.

We are all, of course, extremely worried about the spread of this virus and we know you are too.

The School has been following UK Government advice to remain open, but, following our Government’s most recent advice around “social isolation” and “working from home,” we have made the difficult decision to close Glasgow School of English building from the end of today.  However, the good news is that from Monday 23rd March we are offering students online, teacher-led, interactive group classes they can do at home, rather than face-to-face, teacher-led classes in the School. Current students will be offered these, and all new students can join from their homes, wherever they are in the world.

All students will need is an internet connection, access to email and a phone, laptop or tablet

They will receive an email invitation from “GSOE online classes:online-class@glasgowschoolofenglish.com” to join a class.
When they click on the link in this email, just before a normal 9.00am or 1.15pm class start time, it will take them to their online class.  Separate, detailed instructions will be given to all students, including new students who sign up for classes in the future, on how to do this.

Although the School building will be closed, all the School staff will be working normal hours, Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm, from home.  You can still send enquiries and bookings and speak to a member of staff by emailing info@glasgowschoolofenglish.com, or telephoning the school number: +44 141 353 0033.  If you wish to contact the school outside these times, in an emergency please phone: +44 7763 887151.

Once it is safe to do so, the school will reopen for face-to-face classes.

The school website, www.glasgowschoolofenglish.com and Facebook page, www.facebook.com/glasgowschoolofenglish, will be updated weekly with information so please bookmark these pages and watch out for news.

It is a very difficult time for all of us and we wish you and your families well over the difficult weeks ahead.

Keep safe and warmest regards,

Alison Orr

Director, Glasgow School of English
