CLIL Secondary Teaching

English Courses in Glasgow

This course is ideal for secondary school teachers who teach their curriculum subjects in English. There is both an online and a face-to-face element to the course. There are 20 hours of online English language practice, followed by 30 hours of classroom practice. The classroom practice is taken over 2 weeks, Monday – Friday. It is designed for secondary school teachers whose first language is not English, and looks at CLIL methodology, how the features of CLIL can be used in the classroom and how to apply CLIL methodology to your own teaching context.

Candidates will learn about both the practical and theoretical aspects of CLIL. Teachers will share their knowledge, and gain a wider understanding of how to teach using the English language, allowing them to become more confident and more able CLIL teachers.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • be aware of the features of CLIL
  • identify how their current methods need to be adapted
  • be aware of the English language they need
  • be able to identify target lexical items needed to teach the curriculum in English.

This course is suitable for teachers of CEFR B1 level and above.
