Teachers at Glasgow School of English

Glasgow School of English only employs qualified and experienced teaching staff who satisfy British Council standards. All of our teachers are dedicated to working with you to ensure that your time at Glasgow School of English is as enjoyable and as productive as possible. All of our teachers are experienced in dealing with international students and have many years experience teaching both in the UK and overseas.

Matthew Green

Matthew

Matthew has been teaching at Glasgow School of English for more than five years. Matthew has experience of teaching international students throughout the UK, Japan and France. When he’s not teaching, Matthew plays in a band called ‘The Tall Boy’. He plays in many local venues in and around Glasgow and has a loyal fan base of both students and staff!

Lily McPake

Lily

Lily has been teaching at the school since it first opened in 1997. Away from work, Lily likes to spend time with her two children.

James Sheridan

James

James has been teaching at the school for 3 years. James has more than 8 years' teaching experience. Last year he spent 5 months teaching at our sister school in Beijing. When James is not teaching he enjoys socialising with friends and listening to live music.

Vicki Craig (Senior Teacher)

Vicki graduated from university in 1996 and has been teaching English for 8 years. She’s taught in several countries around the world, including Japan, the Czech Republic and China, as well as here in the UK. Vicki was the Senior Teacher for the UK Express Course at Beijing International Studies University which is a partner of Glasgow School of English. During her time in Beijing she qualified as an IELTS examiner and marker and tested hundreds of students throughout North-East China. She thoroughly enjoyed this experience and found it gave her invaluable insight into IELTS which she now hopes to share with students here. When she’s not teaching at Glasgow School of English she spends most of her time studying for her Diploma in TESOL, which she aims to have completed by the end of the year, socialising with friends, and attempting to learn the African language of Yoruba.

Tony

Tony Watt (School Manager & Director of Studies)

Tony has been teaching English since 1998. He lived in Japan for six years where he mainly taught Business Communication Skills at major manufacturers and financial institutions. He completed his Cambridge DELTA in 2005 and is working on his MA in ELT. Last year he presented a paper at the British Association of Applied Linguists 40th conference at Edinburgh University. Tony loves (almost) all kinds of music; he plays guitar, DJs, and used to play shamisen (a traditional Japanese string instrument). He also enjoys hiking and snowboarding but, unfortunately, doesn't have enough time to practise his hobbies!
