Glasgow is a cosmopolitan and vibrant city with social activities to suit all tastes and budgets.

There are more than 1,000 restaurants catering for all tastes (and budgets!) from traditional Scottish cuisine to Far Eastern foods, such as Chinese and Thai restaurants. And there are literally thousands of bars and pubs in Glasgow offering something for everyone. From whisky to real ales to fantastic food often served from lunchtime to early evening.

Glasgow is one of the best cities in Europe for shopping. As well as your typical high street retailers and department stores, there are many designer stores including Armani, Versace, Ralph Lauren as well as many larger shopping malls from the likes of Buchanan Galleries to the stylish Princes Square to St Enoch Centre. All are located within Glasgow city centre and only a few minutes walk from Glasgow School of English.

Glasgow is famous for the old firm: Celtic Football Club and Glasgow Rangers Football Club. Both football stadiums are located approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. In addition there is also the national stadium Hampden (pictured left), which is the home of national football and the Scottish Football Museum.

Glasgow is home to numerous multi-screen cinema (and an IMAX) (pictured left at The Science Centre) show casing some of the world?s latest film releases. In addition there is also the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT), which is located only five minutes walk from the school and has an international programme offering new and innovative films alongside more familiar work. There are a number of public and private leisure centres located throughout the city. Typical facilities include: swimming pools, state of the art gym facilities, saunas, steam-rooms etc. The majority of the leisure centres are run by the city council and are open to both members and non-members. Stylish and upbeat, Glasgow truly is one of Europe's most cosmopolitan cities.
